HOST INTRODUCTION
Juan Camilo, our host, is a marine biologist and a specialist in botanical extractions. He initially worked as curator of birds and reptiles at the well-known Florida Marine Park and Aquarium, the Miami Seaquarium. A couple of years later, he joined the Rosensntiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Miami, where he also studied to obtain his master's degree. After several years of working as a researcher in Miami, he was hired by the famous Harbor Branch Institution of Oceanographic Studies, in the city of Fort Pierce, also in the state of Florida. There he was head of the microalgae laboratory. After several years in that laboratory, he returned to Colombia where he has worked as a Consultant for several national and international companies and educational entities. Currently, he continues his consulting work with clients in Colombia, and simultaneously gives lectures on various environmental issues, particularly on the effects of climate change on ecosystems and society and the global environmental crisis. Due to his wide experience with botanical extractions Juan has also developed a small private cannabis extraction consulting venture, helping clients in that industry to produce extracts for the local markets. He has a small private laboratory at home in the outskirts of Medellin and he algo teaches about that subject at different places. Juan has been the host of more than 25 groups of Remote Year travelers to illustrate (hands on), a particular Cannabis extraction process he developed himself.
