This authentic South African Safari and Trout Farm experience commences with a stay at a wholly black owned and community managed Safari camp in the Manyaleti (Greater Kruger Park). Here you will enjoy 3 open air safari experiences as well as a walking safari within the Kruger National Park. You will have shared accommodation in comfortable, en suite Safari Style Tents, a swimming pool and a quaint bush massage spa.
From here on in, the “order of the day” will be an authentic Old World African Safari Experience!
Up with the birds before sunrise, eager for the adventure of searching for the myriad of creatures that inhabit the Greater Kruger National Park. This experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity with the very real possibility of encountering “The Big 5 “in their natural environment. Your hosts will afford you genuine South African warmth, delicious meals and ensure that you have the best wildlife experience possible.
Your last afternoon and evening will be spent on a stunning Trout Farm where you will have the chance to fly fish (catch and release), horse ride, zip line into a dam or enjoy the natural surroundings at your leisure. Enjoy sundowner's out on the farm with your hosts before sitting down to a home-style South African dinner served with South African wines. Accommodation at the farm will be shared in well-appointed en suite rooms.
Travel from Stanford to Cape Town where you will catch a flight to Hoedspruit (Eastgate Airport). Hosts Jacky and Mike will pick you up at the airport and take you to the Safari Camp. A quick finger lunch at the camp entrance before heading on your first open vehicle Safari experience. You will get the chance to check in to your room after the safari. Check into your shared tented accommodation. Relax or freshen up before heading to dinner prepared by the Safari camp.
04h30 am start with a 20 min drive to Orpen Gate in the Kruger National park for a 2 to 3 hour professionally guided Bush Walk. After this exhilarating walking Safari grab an espresso or enjoy a quick browse around the souvenir shop before driving back to the Safari camp for brunch. The warm mid hours of the day are spent doing the camp walking trail, having a back massage at The Bush Spa, relaxing at the swimming pool or simply resting in your tent. Internet connectivity is limited so it’s best not to plan important work over these few days. Mid-afternoon will be teatime (beverage and a light snack) before boarding the open Safari vehicles again for late afternoon into the evening game encounters. This time of day promises excellent viewing with possible experiences with all the species that Africa is famous for. Arrive back at camp in the early evening for fireside drinks and a typically South African 3 course dinner while listening out for the roar of lions or the call of hyena.
5AM rise to get out on the last open Safari trip of the experience. Enjoy the soft light and freshness that is early morning in Africa. Keep your eyes peeled for beautiful birds while continuing the quest for the Big 5 viewing that only Manyeleti has been known to deliver. Return to the camp for another generous brunch. After brunch we will take a 4 hour drive heading to an amazing Trout Farmstay. Enjoy some delicious tea, cake and savoury snacks upon arrival on the farm. Later there will be activities such as fly fishing, horse riding, swimming and ziplining into the farm dam. Enjoy a very authentic Bakkie ride to have sundowner's at a stunning waterfall. Relax with sundowner drinks followed by a fireside dinner and wine in the comfort of the Farmhouse you will call home for the night.
