Starting from Selina as a rendezvous point, we shall move towards the Manrique neighborhood. There, we will get to know the statue of Gardel, the most popular tango singer in history, and we shall also discover why he was so important for Medellin while we visit the “Casa Gardeliana” (Gardelian House), one of the most visited places by tango lovers.
Afterward, we will move uphill to the easternmost area of the neighborhood for knowing one of the most important social transformation projects in the city and recognized nationwide for its contribution to the wellbeing of vulnerable young people and victims of violence called “El Balcón de los Artistas” (The Artists’ Balcony), dance academy that has as its main goal “saving lives through art”. We will share alongside the artists, learn about their process, and, given that they have trained more than 14.000 dancers (some of them in prestigious dancing companies abroad), we will watch them rehearsing while we will also get the chance to have a dancing lesson of different rhythms such as tango and salsa while having a magnificent sight of the city.
Through this experience, you will support young people in Medellin in fulfilling their dreams of becoming professional dancers and having new and richer opportunities in their lives.
